Builders Club

Who are our members?
Jefferson students in 6th, 7th and 8thgrade who care about making our world, school, and community a better place.

When do we meet?
Builders Club will meet every Wednesday at 3:30 in Room 406.

What is our purpose?
We look for ways to make the school a better place to learn.  We also look at the world and the community around us and see what we can do to make it a better place.

What is the Builders Club?
Builders Club is a community-service organization for middle school students which operates under school regulations and draws its members from the student body.  Builders Club is unique because it is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Villa Park, composed of leaders, business and professional men and women of the community.  Builders Club's objectives are: to provide opportunities for working together in service to school and community; to develop leadership potential; to foster the development of a strong moral character; and to encourage loyalty to school, community and nation.  It goes great with Character Counts! Builders Club is structured only on the local club level and is supported by the Kiwanis International Office in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Builders Club is the largest community-service organization for middle school students, with nearly 45,000 members in approximately 2,000 clubs.  They will also be part of a 600,000 member organization (Kiwanis International) found in more than 80 nations around the world.  Similar clubs can also be found at high schools and universities.  Many families may have had children and/or siblings participate in one of the state's most successful Kiwanis Key Clubs at Willowbrook High School.

How Will Students Benefit?
Middle school years bridge the gap between childhood and young adulthood.  It is a crossroad in life.  Young people need and want new and exciting challenges that direct their personal development toward the fulfillment of a happy and productive life.  Builders Club helps to build strong leaders for tomorrow-today!  Builders Club provides a way to form sound personal values based on experiences in meaningful community service activities.  The members learn by doing.  They learn organization, teamwork, and leadership.  The most important lesson they can learn is that individuals working together not only make a difference at Jefferson Middle School, about also in the world around them.
