Welcome to my classroom! Mr. Clot/Room 104 My lifelong students:
About Me I am fortunate to be able to teach students for a living, and I hope to communicate that in my classroom on a daily basis. American History is a distinct interest of mine, and I am glad to pass on the knowledge and lessons of our nation's growth from conflict to the students. I am a graduate of Illinois State University in the fields of Psychology and Elementary Education, and I have also earned my Master's Degree in School Administration from Aurora University. My wonderful wife Katie and I have been blessed with two sons, Austin and Benjamin.
About My Classroom My classroom focuses on the content area of Social Studies with a specialization in American History. There is a heavy emphasis on reading and writing in the content area. I do ask students in my classroom to be cognizant of cause and effect, the why rather than the when, and the potential global impact of historical events as we cover and discuss them. I believe strongly in the students and have expectations for them that are both fair and appropriate for the 8th grade student. Availability: My door is open for extra help and/or study sessions regarding assignments/assessments. I am available most days from 8:00 AM until school begins at 8:30 and after school at the parents' discretion. Homework Policy: Homework should be expected at least two days a week and will be checked accordingly on the due date. Homework that is not completed or brought to class when it is due will result in a mandatory after school study session appointment. This appointment will generally last until 3:30. Grading Policies: 15% of the student's total grade will be weighted for homework
