Destination Imagination

An Exciting Adventure in Creativity

Destination ImagiNation (DI) is an international program that promotes divergent thinking in students. Each team of seven students and a parent manager are challenged to think creatively, to accept other's ideas, to develop solutions, and to have fun. Some challenges emphasize science and mathematics while others focus on the arts and performance. The program helps students to develop self-confidence while they learn to work with others as a team. The DI program makes learning fun!

With the support of the Rotary Club of Villa Park, District 45 began participating in the DI program as part of our continuing effort to enrich" the curriculum and provide opportunities for creative thought. During the past years, many of our teams have made it to regional competition, as well as state and global competitions. Hopefully, those successful experiences will help us pave the way to another victorious year!

Students in grades 2-8 may sign up for this unique program. Parents' participation as DI team managers is needed. Each team manager will receive training and a program handbook. Teams will be formed depending on the number of students and parent team managers who apply. Teams usually meet once each week, for approximately twelve weeks. The actual schedule will be determined by each team.
