READING
The skills that are covered and reinforced throughout the reading program are phonics, vocabulary, word analysis, comprehension, oral fluency and expression.

WRITING
Students are developing their writing/editing skills through:
- DOL
- Journals
- Writing Extensions
- Class Made Books
- Wiggleworks and other computer activities
Writing is done throughout the school day. Students are encouraged to use developmental writing on first drafts. Grammar and editing are done as we focus on correct capitalization and punctuation in our everyday writing.

- Count orally by ones and tens to 100, by twos to twenty, and by fives to fifty
- Write numerals to 100
- Addition and subtraction facts through 12
- Place value through 100
- Telling time to the hour and half hour using an analog clock
