Welcome to Stevenson School
Welcome to the Stevenson website! Stevenson and York Center are sister schools. Stevenson serves students in Early Childhood through second grade. York Center serves third through fifth grades.
In 2006, the York Center/Stevenson staff and students were awarded two prestigious awards. The state of Illinois has named us as Spotlight Schools, and the U.S. Department of Education has honored us with the 2006 Blue Ribbon Award. York Center has been awarded for academic achievement and "exemplary performance in closing the achievement gap, meeting high standards, and opening a world of opportunities." In a letter received by Margaret Spellings, the former U.S. Secretary of Education, she wrote, "Your school is living proof that students can acquire the kinds of advanced skills and knowledge they need to succeed in today's world. It is a national model of excellence from which others can learn." We are proud of our accomplishments and have continued to be named as a Spotlight School by the state of Illinois in 2007, 2008, and 2009.
