D45 Graduate Donates Paintings to North's LRC

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) at North is getting an upgrade thanks to a generous donation from a D45 graduate. Maddie Schulte, currently a senior at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, attended North School and graduated from Jefferson Middle School in 2012.

District 45 and everyone at North would like to thank Maddie for donating several of her original paintings to the North LRC. The paintings re-create several famous illustrated children’s book characters that, no doubt, have had a positive influence on student’s across the district for generations. North’s LRC Specialist, Sandi Henderson accepted the generous donations and plans to hang the pieces in a prominent location for students and staff to enjoy.

According to Maddie, “The library here [at North] is such a special place where students can embrace education, creativity, and imagination.” She added that she, “chose to complete the artwork as a thank you to the hard work Mrs. Henderson does for our community and I hope it inspires the bright students here at North School!"

Maddie is graduating in May with a bachelor's degree in social work and a minor in Spanish. She then plans to pursue a master’s degree in advanced clinical social work with a concentration in school social work. Her hope is to work in public education as a school social worker.

The District 45 community wishes you the best of luck, Maddie!
